I’m a Cherokee artist, journalist, essayist, and novelist living in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, in the foothills of the Ozarks.

My work is rooted in place, observation, memory, and the complicated ways our lives are shaped by where we come from and where we are now. My Cherokee heritage and the landscape and communities of northeastern Oklahoma naturally find their way into my paintings and writing, but I’m interested in more than the past. I’m drawn to the people, stories, questions, and ordinary moments of the world as it is today.

I work across several forms—painting, journalism, essays, and fiction—but they all come from the same impulse: to pay attention. Sometimes that means looking closely at a landscape or a face. Sometimes it means asking questions, telling someone’s story, or trying to understand my own.

This website is primarily a home for my art, but it is also a place to bring those different threads of my work together.
